I have an existing Wordpress website, which had a unique theme.

Now that I have downloaded the Simplicity theme, I need detailed instructions and documentation as How to setup the Homepage - the header and all the other areas that is showcased in the Demo.

Where do I find the detailed steps to follow to setup the Homepage header?
How do I make my theme look like the Demo, when I have an existing Wordpress website that I now have to customize to follow the Simplicity rules?

Please let me know where/how I can access the setup instructions -- NOT QuickGuide -- for an existing website, with plenty of existing content, that I now need to setup with this new theme.

Looking forward to some help here.

Thank you!

Hi,

If you've the existing website with existing content then, the only way is installing the Quickstart Package on your localhost and then copy the widget settings (remember about the Widget Rules settings too) to your page. Our demo content is strictly based on the widgets - unfortunately WordPress doesn't offer any option to export widget settings from other instance. That's why currently you have to copy the settings manually.

For the theme settings, you can export the settings from your Quickstart installation and import it in your installation using the "Import/Export" tab in the theme submenu.

The frontpage is strictly based on the widgets, the custom HTML code used on the frontpage widgets is described here:

http://demo.gavick.com/wordpress/simpli ... age_id=899

and here:

http://demo.gavick.com/wordpress/simpli ... age_id=896

Please remember that if you want to achieve the big header image, you should specify for the header text widget style "Image Backround" (in the Widget Rules).

We are hardly working on a tool to easily export widget settings, but it will take us probably few weeks yet - export and import of the WordPress options table is hard task - probably that's why WordPress doesn't offer it as a standard tool.

Thank you for your feedback. I installed MAMP, and used the quickstart to install everything and it looked exactly like the Demo.

Now, like you suggested, I can work my way backwards on my other Live hosted, existing wordpress website where I want to publish this theme to.

By the way due big amount of similar requests, we are working on a tool which will make able to reproduce the demo content without installing a quickstart - I home that in the one-two weeks we will include it in our all themes.

Is there a step-by-step guide?

I could not undertand how should I customize my widgets.
Should I take a "Html" widget and insert the code that you provided earlier in this post?

I'm having a hard time to figure this out.

I think I just got it.

I've tried the "Text" Widget inside each section, copied the HTML and selected the proper Widget Rules.
Is that the way to go?
