I need to add code from Google in the <head> section of my website before the <body> in order for Google to verify my ownership of my website.

I was told that using Filezilla, I could navigate to /httpdocs/templates/[name_of_your_template]/ , right-click on index.php file and choose view/edit - this will download the file to my computer and open it in the default text editor. Here is where I could paste the required text into the file and save it, FileZilla will ask me if I would like to upload modified file to my site - confirm that and then the modification will be uploaded to the server.

However, in the index.php file, I did not see anything resembling <head> to put the code. So I am thinking that the Gavick Magazine template has some other way of getting this code into the head section of my website.

Please advise.

Thank you.

Wouldn't it be easier to use file upload method (you download special file from google, put it in the root of website, then verify by accessing this file)?
