HI. I just rebuilt my main site with Magazine and Joomla 3.0. I have a lot of niggles that I need to fix, I'm trying to work them out myself, but anyway, let me start with this...

1st. Here is my site: www.neuropool.com

I installed the gavick quickstart for Joomla 3.0 and then customised that. I soon found that the homepage was set to the K2 component, which I didn't want, so I cliked on the "home" menu item in "Main Menu" and changed it to Menu Item Type=Featured articles. I checked it was the starred (HOME).

In Advanced options I selected the categories I wanted and chose article order=most recent first.

The problem is they don't display with the most recient article first on the front page.

I tried changing the article order=date modified. The front paged did not change.

I also checked if other changes correctly affected the home page. When I change the amount of articles or links dipalyed, the resultes were correctly reflected on the front page.

But I cannot seam to cahnge the article order.

Any thoughts?

You were very close to working solution :).
In "Advanced Options" of menu item You need to set:
1. Category Order to "No Order" (as it is a primary sorting field).
2. Article Order to "Most recent first"
3. Date of Ordering to "Created" (or any other that fits You better).

I have changed those options and hopefully they fit Your demand well.

For other questions asked, that might be helpful also to others.
1. To translate cookie law info:
either edit /language/en-GB/ en-GB.tpl_gk_news.ini and find the strings around line number 421 ("TPL_GK_LANG_COOKIE_DEFAULTTITLE"), or copy this file to another lang file (remember to change lang prefix in filename.) and translate phrases.
2. To add custom modules, please read this documentation: http://www.gavick.com/documentation/joo ... -position/

3. You can set register url in template settings, in Options - Features section
4. Setting up social Icons (links):
- go to Extensions-> modules
- edit "Social icons" module (it is in "social" position)
- change links to social services (I suggest to do it in html mode).

Thanks for your great help!

You mean to say that because the category order was set, that is why it didn't work the way I intended? I should have tried that, lame.

Thanks, I'm off to work on your other solutions, I certainly think an easy way to translate the cookie law will be a welcome update in the future.

A big thanks once again!
