How do you set an article to "featured"?

Hi, please set the post as a sticky post: in the post editor you have to find the "Publish" section.
Next to "Visibility" click on "Edit" and then check the "Stick this post to the front page" option there.
Click save and all is done.

Does this have any other effect or functionality within the theme besides causing the "Featured" badge to show up when showing the full post? I notice it doesn't seem to cause the post to rise to the top of any of the GK widgets.

Anything else this is handy for showing/manipulating?

The sticky posts are displayed on the top of the latest posts list if the latests posts are displayed on the frontpage - there is no other influences for the post position.
