Hello,

I'm using "News" template on Joomla 3.3.6. My language is not using Latin alphabets, and it is not supported by IOS (iPhone, iPad) and mac. I managed to fix on all browsers, tablets & phones; that anybody can read the website, even on iPhone, iPod ... But I couldn't fix the popup menu on iPhone, iPad and android. Android supports my language and it is not a problem on Android phones. You can see the attachment picture from iPad bellow; everything changes to a question mark instead.

In another words how can I change the font family of the menu on iPhone, iPad and android?

Thanks!

I don't think it is a problem with Android vs iOs / OSX, but more a problem of wrongly selected font that simply doesn't have correct glyphs.
Could you please post an url to your site?

Oh, this is really weird. I'll talko to our devteam if they have any idea how to solve this issue. Its mainly a device thing as the menu uses native ios/android menu selector instead of a html elements.
I'll talk to you as soon as I'll get an answer.

It doesn't matter if I change the font for this menu to Arial or any, because the phones (e.g. iPhone or any Android) take their own default font for this specific menu of "News" template. But in the other hand the menu GAVICK used for example on "University" template (https://demo.gavick.com/joomla25/university/); it is possible to change the font and works on any device, I think it is because the menu is "A Side Menu" (aside-menu). The menu uses the font from the website instead of the default font of the phone.

I want to test the menu of “University” template on “News” template. Could you please help me on; which files I need for this menu (University), which files should I have to modify … etc.

Thanks!

I'm afraid this is not an easy task - it would require quite huge template makeover and we do not support this kind of changes :(.

I'm wondering - is your language supported by any of test phones or are you using plain english (english glyphs)?

Yes, it is supported by Android, the problem is with iPhone and iPad. I'm using Ethiopic language and font.

If you give some tips how I can change the menu I'll try my best to fix it.

Thanks!

Actually I could give you some tips when you would be halfway through or just finishing. If you don't know html/css/js you simply will not be able to do anything without 100% description of what to copy, source, destination etc :(

Then you should simply compare those two templates and find code that makes side menu work. I suggest to use firebug/devtools to make the process more simply.

Thanks for your help Cyberek!

Finally it is fixed!

As you said by comparing the two templates I tried to fix the problem with some changes of PHP, JavaScript, CSS files and by adding GKAsideMenu.php, ... etc. The menu list is now readable on iPhone and iPad, it also uses the font family I assigned for the menu.

If it is possible, please let your developer teams know this issue and fix the problem for the next “News” template update. The same menu is used also on many of your templates.

With regards.

Usually we do not add features like that to an existing template. You are first of our users who had such an issue.
I'm glad you could solve it out by your self. I have tested your solution and I must admit - you did amazing job.
