Hello,

In Joomla 1.x using the Section-Category system, all the articles in the various categories appear also as articles in the Section Page.

In Joomla 3.x, if I have the following hierarchy:

    Parent Category 01
    - SubCategory 01a
    -- SubCategory 01ai
    -- SubCategory 01aii
    - SubCategory 01b
    -- SubCategory 01bi
    -- SubCategory 01bii

    Parent Category 02
    etc.

Is there a way for articles in

-- SubCategory 01ai
-- SubCategory 01aii

to be included in

- SubCategory 01a

and further: Is there a way for articles in

- SubCategory 01a
-- SubCategory 01ai
-- SubCategory 01aii
- SubCategory 01b
-- SubCategory 01bi
-- SubCategory 01bii

to be included in

Parent Category 01

This is very important in many respects to allow visitors to view related articles. In fact, in commercial papers, it is even possible to include articles to different parent categories.

For example, articles about Apple may appear in Technology, Business or Politics, Advertising, etc. depending on the content of the article.

If this is not possible with Joomla 3.x right now, is there anyone who may know how to go around this? I would not mind paying a premium fee if Gavick can make this possible.

You can use K2 for this.

Category A
------------- Sub Category A1
------------- Sub Category A2

If you select your Category A, it will show items from Category A as well as from children sub categories which is selectable in category settings.

Regarding Apples example you have given, you can use tags in K2 items which can relate to other items in other categories.

Thanks Norman,

So, it will work only through K2 categories/articles but not using Joomla categories/articles?

Yes it will work with Article / categories as well but K2 has more fine tuning then Article system.

You can test both systems to make sure if they are suitable for your usage. Create your categories, create your items, articles and see how they work out.
