And how does Last Week work? Does it show the most popular articles from 7 days ago or something along those lines?

HI,
this is easy question

If you had checked basic settings - option: "Source of articles" you would know.

TOP STORIES : Uses only few K2 Articles
MOST Popular: Uses all K2 Articles

But more important is that: there are just sample settings, you have full control what to show on them!

Source of articles: All K2 Articles
News order: By Date
Amount of news in the Portal Mode: 10

That's all, yes, maybe the name is not so good, but you can change the name and all settings or just use another module instead.

What makes a top story/article and how long does a top story stay top?

What makes a popular story/article? how long does a most popular story stay top?
