Moving a module position.

Hi folks.
I have read over:

But for some reason I can not wrap my head around how they are told where they are situated.
I wanted to move the News Logo position to above the mainmenu but for the life of me I just do not get it.

Hi, that makes it difficult. You don't have add new module position, just modify "logo" position.
Search here: gk_news\layouts\default.php + and CSS files.
Remember that this is RWD layout so you have to be careful & foreseeing.

Of course you can add a new position above, but I don't know where you stuck.

p.s.
Take in your mind that customization is not regular Template support. So I can give you only tips.
