Hello,

how can I add a menu to the mainmenubar?

I have two menus, one only for public, one only for registried. In which position I have to publish the menu? :D

Thanks

Menu area is build in template part and it not works like regular module position. You can add items to the same menu and only make them visible for 'Registered' users or use some other template position like sidebar or mainbody top and mod_menu module.

Hi bkrztuk,

I understand this situation. What I don't understand, is the why. For what reason you limit this menu-position? I mean, what is the sense or the idea, so one can say that is needed for the users, this is a breaking feauture?

Now I have to transfer the menu-points, because I use your framework. The joomla-theme and other templateclubs easily support this joomla-given feature.

You tip, to make them only visible for 'Registered' users, don't handle the issue, that e.g the Home is visible for 'Registered' as well. How to remove this from 'Registried'? :(

And your other workaround about displaying in other positions don't fit the layout of mine, because I need the mobile-support, etc.

Looking forward to your solution and thank you very much for your support :)

It would be really nice to see Gavick come out with a menu mod for their templates. Then you wouldn't have to hack the templates to death, like I do now, to insert menus where I need them. It would be designed to display properly with Gavick templates and could pull all the css from the template it is installed on for a perfect fit. (This would also make your templates more attractive to new subscribers :) )

Often to fix the problem below I end up creating new mod positions with nav id's and then duplicate the menu css into the override under a new class to get the feel that I want. But it is a royal pain and takes a good chunk of time.

Hi bankert123,

that exactly the point. Why one have to hack the template to gain a joomla-standard-feauture?

Your solution is great, but that just to much pain, like you said. Moreover, thats a advanced task, which needs some skills in programming.

I fully understand, that if you need more positions, you have to add positions. That what I understand and can do. But I don't understand why the given positions are limited that way...

Merry Christmas everyone :)

The reason is our dedicated menu JavaScipt code which allows you to create multilevel menu, columns, descriptions etc. If you need simple menu you can always use the mod_menu module (default Joomla! module)
