Dear tech, every time I update an image in one of the articles, it tales a very long time to
show up on the front end. 5, 10 min easy. Can I do something about it?

Probably it is caused by your browser cache not by Joomla! cache settings, please try to delete temporary browser memory before you refresh site, surely you will see results much faster.

that's just the thing, it doesnt help. Can I do smth with the joomla cache settings?

You can try to disable cache at all or set different time value in Joomla cache settings.
