Hi

Using your bike store template, what is the recommended way of creating a multi-language site?

In my case, I need to support two languages. I followed Joomla 3 steps (http://www.templatemonster.com/help/joo ... -site.html) and created 3 menus in total (english, czech and universal).

Now there's a template setting which defines the menu to be used. Since there are 3 of them, which one to choose?

I've googled this and found two approaches:
1) Duplicate the template for each supported language.
2) Create language menu stubs with just one item (home) and then one big menu with all menu items for all languages.

Could you please advise what is the recommended approach for bike store?

Could you please provide detailed steps or provide a reference?

Thank you

Regards

Hi

Thanks for the quick reply but I don't think the referenced page brings much light into this. What it does bring is the fact that there is one more option (that I did not mention previously) - Falang.

Could you please go into more detail and explain the recommended way along with advantages/disadvantages so I can make an informed decision?

My requirements are:
- Two languages - English and Czech (possibility to add more in the future).
- Automatic detection of the language (e.g., by checking browser setting)
- Default to English if browser language neither Czech nor English.
- Possibility to change the language and remembering the choice (cookie).

Thank you

Still you have two choice:
1) Using default Multi-language system for all conetnt and different template copy for each lang, to have two different menus (mainmenu)
or
2) FaLang tool, which can help you manage translation , but trick with template & menu you have to do also.

Additionally you can check features of Chameleon - gives easy controls to switch template according to language.

We have also this guide: https://www.gavick.com/documentation/un ... oomla-1-7/

There is not one ideal & perfect way. So I cannot lie saying you "use only this solution".
