Trouble installing joomla 3.0 quickinstall template package

I am trying to install the quick install package for the joomla 3.0 version of bikestore template. all the files are in place on the server, and i get to the joomla install config pages, but when i click install it hickups while creating tables is in progress and then returns to the 3rd page with the install button. i have been over this issue with hostgator and they insist that it is a template or joomla issue. Please help!
