Update to Virtuemart 3.0 and Joomla 3.3

Hey,

In a test environment I tried updating my 2.5 Joomla site with VM 2.6 to VM 3.0 and it suceeded well.

After that I tried updating Joomla from 2.5 to 3.3 and in order to make it happen I need to uninstall plg_gkmodulelinks and plg_gkextmenu and without those the site dont work.

So it seems I also need to update the bikestore template from 2.5. Could you help making a guide how to that. Thanks.

Our ecommerce templates are not VM 3.x ready ;( - you have to wait X days or even more, for a update.
but you can rename those folders:
templates\gk_bikestore\html\com_virtuemart
templates\gk_bikestore\html\mod_virtuemart_cart
templates\gk_bikestore\html\mod_virtuemart_category

and your Joomla 3.3 will use default VM 3.x theme.

p.s.
And of course after Joomla upgrade to J!3.x you have to upgrade also template, just re-Install a new one for J3.3 only.
those plugin must be also compatible with J3.3 so use a new ones, from gk_bikestore_rest_files_J!3.zip (UNZIP before)

Is there any estimate as to when there will be support for VirtueMart on Joomla 3?

Support for Joomla 2 ends by the end of this year so this question becomes quite important.

Yes, official support will end in next few days, but nobody will turn off your website after that date , so relax.
I have got info from our developer that he will take a look at VM3 as soon as possible, so in January all templates from last 2 years should get a new update. About older I cannot promise anything.

Version for J2.5 was build in Jul 2012, and version for J3.x is from Nov 2012.
So lottery - will get or not.
But if yes, it will be at the end of list. But you can ask also via FB page GK owner.
