hi,
i activated the search engine Friendly URLs - Use URL rewriting and Add Suffix to URL from the control panel afther the htaccess.txt file modify

i modified the htaccess.txt in this way:
1) changed the Options +FollowSymLinks in # Options +FollowSymLinks
2) # RewriteBase / in RewriteBase / (the website is not in anather folder)
3) renamed the htaccess.txt in .htaccess and added by the ftp clieent Filezilla

When i go to the control pane for activate the Friendly URLs - Use URL rewriting and Add Suffix to URL i continue to recieve the 404 error page for the all menu links.. why?

i did this operation so many times and i don't find the solution for this website..

can u help me?

Hi,

Please check if the standard htaccess.txt file is working - in my opinion you shouldn't apply any changes to this file. If the standard htaccess.txt file will work then you can try to apply your changes one by one and then check which change causes your problems.

If the original htaccess.txt file doesn't work, then it means that it is a problem with your server configuration - please ask your hosting provider why standard Joomla htaccess file doesn't work.

That's why I've asked you to check if the original file htaccess.txt renamed to .htaccess with enabled SEF url's is working correctly - please check it.

So it means that your changes caused the problem - you can consult it with your hosting, why it is not working, because most probably it depends from the server configuration.

You should have installed on your server mod_rewrite.
