When I edit a menu item and save it the phrase "k2-categories" gets added to the URL, right before the alias. The menu items URL looks good when adding it but it's when I edit the item "k2-categories" gets added.

The URLs that are edited looks like this: www.mydomain.com/k2-categories/alias. In the menu item options k2-categories is no where to be seen. This happen to all my menu items that I edit, not only the k2 ones.

Any idea how to remove it?

Hi

Are you using any SEF component instead of Joomla! SEF?

Honestly i don't have any clue.
It's the first time i see this issue with K2.
Since URLs are generated by the structure of the menus, try cleaning "alias" on K2 link and save.
Them clear cache and check again.

Also check following:

If you have menu item type as External Url type, change the menu item type to anything else such as K2 Item then Alias tab will be visible which maybe one of your menu items might have "k2-categories" as alias but hidden because of External url menu item type which does not display alias when selected.

You can also search your database with phpmyadmin for search term "k2-categories" which will show you if there is any alias as such.

See you around...

I searched in the database and found several entries in the menu section with k2-categories in path. I removed k2-categories in all of them and now it works. Very weird...

i am having this same problem. i see the items in the database. but there is nothing existent in the actual administrator side. i dont have anything unpublished or trashed. i emptied trash, cleared cache etc.

in fact, i dont even have k2 installed but im still having the same problem. did you just delete the items from the tables in phpmyadmin?

@ggarmo, Did you try changing menu type "external url" to something else so you can see alias option which is hidden when using "external url".

See you around...
