Styling is lost in IE8

I took a look at your demo and my site after doing a bit of editing and I notice most of the styling is lost in IE8!

IE8 really hits the the look of this template in a bad way and I would like to know what can I do to get the look that I want?

And the look that I want is the same as everyone else...

The problem with styling appears on our demo site too? I've tested the template on IE8 and IE9 and it have looked correctly - there is no support for box-shadows, text-shadows, border-radius etc. but the page was looking correctly as I remember.
