Hi There,

I notice gamenews template is showing mobile layout on my mobile phone even when I have set to use default layout.
There is no set 'default' layout for iphone/android/handheld devices like other previous I had tried.
How should I go about to management the layout?

Hi,

There is no separated mobile layout in the GameNews template - it is a responsive template and it adjust their styling to device using the mobile.css and the tablet.css. The only thing you can set are the egde width values when the mobile.css and tablet.css are loaded.

Hi dziudek,

Thanks for the tips. is there a way to use override.css to force as desktop layout? I am thinking of this as a fall back in case of the adjustment of the content does not gel well with this idea.

The override.css changes won't work, because still the mobile.css and tablet.css files will be loaded for the specific browsers widths.

I really need to just have the template as default on all devices as my content looks the terrible on th iPad

If you are saying that it is taking the layout from the mobile.css file then can I simply replace this code with the default.css data ?

You can try to remove make blank the tablet.css and mobile.css and then in the template.css file set for the body element this property:

Code: Select all
min-width: 1024px!important;

All depends from your content - in some cases it can needs additional adjustments for mobile devices. We have included support for the basic joomla elements on the mobile/tablet devices.

I do hope that Gavick templates are not all going to exclude the option to make mobile devices show the default template layout, this exclusion on this template has, for me, made it unusable, if this is the way Gavick are going I don't think I will be renewing my membership....I really think end users of your products should have the option to show their website on mobile devices how THEY want to and not have the template dictate this.

I am now forced to look at YooTheme for a suitable template for my project.

I will try this option before giving up on this template, can you explain in more details how to do this as I do not understand what you mean about ' remove make blank the tablet.css and mobile.css '

i have added min-width: 1024px!important; to body element. it stretch the width too much and push the sidebar and footer down to bottom.

I havent figure out on what blank space to remove based on what you had mentioned earlier.

You can decrease the tablet width to 719 pixels in the template settings and then it will appear as in the desktop for the iPad. Please understand - this template supports Responsive Web Design and the full version of the page displayed on the mobile device screen is useless - is too small and hard to use, because the desktop version is prepared for the mouse pointer not for the touch screens. If you need the full screen version - please remove the mobile.css/tablet.css and remove the viewport metatag (it is in the layouts/default.php file).

I'll not be able to help more, because it isn't connected with the template functionality and custom works like this are beyond our support - you have got a responsive template and you want to make it unresponsive - it is sensless.

Hi dziudek,

I appreciate on this responsive web design idea. The tablet experience is really better than desktop layout. I seem to encounter plenty of white space with other extension and have to disable it for now until I figure out on those white space.

It will be great to be able to enable/disable such feature in the template administration panel like the older template.

The layout varies greatly across different screen resolution. It is hard for some to accept. A responsive template is always welcome when we have more control over it.

Hi

The whole reason of responsive template is that no additional configuration is needed it should be working itself and fit best whatever device it's on.
