I am trying to setup fest with WPML so that when I am on the speakers page I could switch from one language to another.

I created the category in different language and linked the menu to these different category, and I also made sure the speakers where in the right category depending on the language. Is that all I should need to do or there is a step I am missing since speakers is a different post type?

Thanks

I am not sure where the speaker type is registered - in the function.php file ? I poked around and couldn't find where it is.

Check Fest/gavern/helpers/helpers.features.php file and gavern_create_post_type function.

So this is actually a bug from the Fest Theme, since it is supposed to work with wpml and it doesn't.

Since I don't have a developer license I cannot submit a ticket, so I don't know how to proceed.

I've tried it many ways, and I also tried it with a clean install, two times actually.

The bug is simple, the Speaker category although it seems to be translatable, cannot be translated.

Here is what I done:

Install a fresh install quick start. Install wpml, setup 4 language with wpml. Make sure the custom post speakers is translated in translation management, multilingual setup.

Setup wpml to appear in the menu.

I went to Category in the speaker menu, translated in 4 languages. Then I translated the 8 speakers in the 4 language.

Now when visiting the Speaker page, I cannot change language on that page. This is a local install so I don't have a link to it.

I would really like to have this solve as it is a major problem on a theme that is supposed to work with wpml. How can I proceed forward with this bug?

For now this small plugin will solve this issue.
Additionally you have to copy content from category-speakers.php to new files (category-ID.php, where id is the id of speakers category in foreign languages).

Sorry, but other solutions need more time, and we are going to rebuild speakers (create separated plugin) so this is a temporary solution. Plugin will be release with nearest Fest theme update.

BTW, thanks for your feedback.
