Hi,

I really tried to follow the instructions you guys have to upload the demo theme but It was a bit confusing for me. I uploaded Wordpress via my Cpanel Fantastico then uploaded the regular them via my wordpress site. I read in a previous post that I may have to add things manually where do I add it and what do I add? Can I still add the demo stuff with the theme already added?

I would truly appreicate some assistance thanks.

Hi,

The demo content can be added only if you're using the quickstart package - it is a WordPress instance with everything configured as our demo. In other way you will have to install the quickstart package manually and then copy the settings manually to your WordPress instance. Our demo content is strictly based on the widgets, unfortunately currently WordPress doesn't offer any option to export these settings in an easy way :/ We are working on a tool to do it.

The quickstart tutorial is available here: https://www.gavick.com/documentation/wo ... tallation/

Thanks, for your response. I've read that post thoroughly several times and I really don't understand how it's installed. Before I uploaded the theme I tried to upload the QuickStart theme via my Wordpress site and FTP and I kept getting the error message that the CSS was not installed. If I remove the regular Fest theme how do I add the demo theme without gettin the error message? Again, I apologize I have read the tutorial and it's not as clear for me.

The easiest way is following:

1) Download the quickstart package
2) Unzip it
3) Upload the unzipped files to your server
4) Go to the upload location in your browser
5) Install it as a normal WordPress installation

That's all :)

Final question, u said upload the unzipped files, upload all the files in all of the folders in the same location?

Can I keep theme installed or does it need to be removed before I do the QuickStart theme?

You have to upload the quickstart files to the location where you wanrt to place your installation - there is no special locations.

Quickstart package is a not theme installer - it is a whole wordpress installation with the demo content, plugins and proper configuration.

I uploaded all the files in WP-Content via FTP, do they all need to be uploaded in one folder? I am also unable to find the upload location for my browser.

As I wrote earlier - the Quickstart package is a wordpress installation with the demo content. I cannot install it on a existing website.

The page is installed - for the administrator account I've used the previous data. Old files are located in the __wp_backup directory.

I'm currently having a similar problem. I've downloaded the zip files and read the instructions on installing the WordPress Template. When I go to my site it just seems to load the theme not the demo site. These are the things that I've tried. I use GoDaddy hosting, which has a WordPress application that installs through the hosting dashboard. I've tried these things:

Deleting all the WP files on the database and uploading the quickstart files through the file manager(ftp), loading it through the WP theme installer and uninstalling and re-installing WP on my database. It all gets me to the same place which is here http://independenceuncorked.com/.

I first tried this in Joomla and was having troubles so I switched to WP thinking it would be easier for myself and other volunteers that would eventually run the site. All I want is the demo site to start editing.

Hi @besthour2004,

Now I'm seeing that you have installed the theme, not a quickstart. You don't need WordPress to install quickstart package :) Quickstart is a wordpress instance with our theme included (demo content, plugins and proper configuration), so the best way is to clean up WP files and database, then upload the unzipped files (quickstart package) to your server. Say that we have called this directory "fest".

Then go to the upload location in your browser (e.g. http://yourserver.com/fest) and install it as a normal WordPress installation.

If you still will have problems with installation, please send me PM with FTP and database access and I'll do it for you...

When you say clean up WP files and database do you mean just uninstall wordpress from my database?

Yes, just delete your wordpress database or use another one during Quickstart package installation. If you have only one database you also can use the same (old database) but use another Table prefix (another than default _wp prefix) during the Quickstart installation.

If you installed normal WordPress you should be able to install the QuickStart package (it's the same process, but now don't do it through the your hosting dashboard, maybe here is a problem).

Please read this tutorial.

Guys, I also need your help. I have spent nearly 7 hours trying to get the demo version up and running. All I have managed so far is to break my existing website so it not longer connects and not manage to upload the demo site.

I have created a database in the hosting area of a preexisting website that I have built (I want this site to a mini festival site within a larger site).

I added the quickstart files as you have said in a new directory I have created. I then typed in the address i wanted it go to and is asked me to create the files as it says in the tutorial.

The only issue I have is that I don't know what the details are of the new site I want to create to be able to make it install properly.

My current website is:www.jewishnorthcounty.com and I want to make the fest site at www.jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch

I cannot find the correct details and it has now broken my site. Please please help as I have now had to back save the current website which as gone down when I tried to do what i thought was correct. Whatever you need please let me know as I'm trying ever so hard.

Hi, heresmychance

First of all, you can't install QUICSKTART package on existing Wordpress Intallation (website). Of course If you have jewishnorthcounty.com site, you can install Quickstart on jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch, so you should:
1. Create sukkotattheranch directory on jewishnorthcounty.com.
2. Unzip Fest quickstart package.
3. Send quickstart package to sukkotattheranch directory. Inside there should be wp-admin, wp-content, wp-includes directories and rest of files.
4. Go to your Browser and type jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch URL.
5. Install, like a normal WordPress installation, but set another database, or use the same database but with another than wp_ Table prefix (e.g. wpsukkotattheranch_)

Now I'm not sure what did you do. Did you follow above steps? Your website was on jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch before your operations?
"Error establishing a database connection". means that your username or password or database name in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or it's a problem with database server. You should check your database credentials and compare with your wp-config.php file. (jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch/wp-config.php)

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have now reinstalled all the material from the quickstart zip folder. When I now go to www.jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch it asks for me to create a config file (I have read the tutorial on your site and know that this is what is it supposed to be). When I go through the process and get to the screen where it asks for the:
Database Name:
User Name:
Password:
Database Host:
Table Prefix:

I am now at a loss where to find the correct details to put in here so the site is added to jewishnorthcounty.com/sukkotattheranch not jewishnorthcounty.com

I am using GoDaddy and have called them but they were unhelpful so would love help for this last little bit.

Many thanks

Ok, Database name, user and password you should know, because you created this database before right? You should log into GoDaddy and check these details, If you will have problems with that check wp-config.php file from your existing website (jewishnorthcounty.com), and database name, user, password will be the same, change only
Code: Select all
$table_prefix  = 'wp_';
value to yourtableprefix_
