Image Show GK4 v 1.53 errors

Image Show GK4 version 1.53 is no longer working on my Joomla 3.4.4 website with Gavick Storebox 3.18 template, running PHP 5.6.14. I reverted the module to version 1.52 but it's the same. I had to disabled the module because it displays the errors pasted below on the site page where it should display the slideshow, even though display errors is set to None in Global Configuration and Off in PHP settings. What could be the problem?

This is just a notification. Newest PHP are trying to force a specific standard of codding, which as You've noticed was correct with older versions. Simply hiding PHP notifications is enough and adviced by joomla developers. If option in joomla global configuration does not work than try changing it in php.ini file.

Here You can find a function to block showing errors directly from PHP: http://php.net/manual/pl/function.error-reporting.php You can use it in file: /layout/default.php

I already disabled display errors in Joomla Global Config AND php.ini, but the Deprecated errors show on the frontend anyway.

If it's still showing than it means that errors in php are still forced to be displayed. Please try ask Your hosting provider how this can be turned off. Or try my other advice and add this at top of /layout/default.php

I had to modify the version of PHP my website hosting account is using. Where you do that depends on the website hosting company you use - ask them how. I host with SiteGround and was able to make the change in .htaccess file or through cPanel.

The BIG drawback is the PHP version I was able to make this work with = 5.5.x is no longer supported since July, 2016, therefore it's insecure. Image Show GK4 wouldn't work with PHP 5.6.x. Now the current version PHP 7.0.x is much faster and I'd rather use it. Not sure I want my entire website performance to suffer just to make one minor module work. My suggestion: find a better replacement for Image Show GK4 that works with current PHP version. Dump Gavick if they won't update it.

I have no problems with Image Show GK4 working with PHP 7.0.x, but as I've mentioned before. Sometime it may be required to disable showing error (which is advised by joomla.org developers). This can be disabled in global joomla configuration or in php.ini file depending of how server is configured.
