Displaying category links and thumbnails

I am using NSP GK4 within tabs not to display article thumbnails and links but rather the overlying categories. For example, I would like to have a TAB called corporate events and under that TAB have the thumbnails for the subcategories such a business lunches, cocktails etc. The idea being that the link will take you to category section rather than the article itself. Much link with the K@ menu item does in the coffe template.

As the categories themselves can have an image and description associated with them I thought this would be possible but I am yet to work out how to do it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can achieve this effect with News Show Pro because our extension can only create thumbnails from articles and it is designed to display articles not categories/sub-categories. Please look for some extensions related with K2 which can list categories with thumbnails etc.
