problem with limiting the number of characters

Hi

I'm actually trying to limit the number of characters for the title through the back office.

Still it doesn't work.

I can only give my URL in a PM and I'm working with Joomla 1.7.

If anyone has any idea about how to set this limit properly, I'll be thankful.

At least, I'm sure the information from the back office was taken into account in the database.
I set the title to 10 characters in the BOffice, it changes in the database, but there is no return on this action on the Front End.
