How to force a line break

hi i am working on the following site www.in2town.co.uk and i want to display a paragraph on the front page next to the main article in position top1 but the text is not coming out as a paragraph and instead it is all joined up.

I have tried using <br><br> but it does not work.

does anyone have any ideas on how to do this please
