Main menu show/no show control

Hi
is it possible to control when main menu is visible and when not? For example: I have a top menu and I wish to show main menu only when the item in top menu is selected (similar as I can control modules based on menu item selected.

or MetaMod Pro -> http://www.metamodpro.com, free version of this extension should be okey also.
