Featured article on frontpage on League News template

I have yet to figure out how to put a featured article on the frontpage in the mainbody section. Please help.

To show the featured articles you have to disable modules on the mainbody module position. When some modules are enabled on the mainbody position then the component content (in this case featured articles) are not displayed on the homepage.
