k2 itens in homepage

hi
for some reason, when a k2 item is clicked on the homepage, the content fot that item is shown withinin the homepage,and not being sent to the k2 section.This is creating a problem, as the left side modules do not show then (they do show however if the items are viewed within the k2 section.
Please help!
