How do I remove path from the URL?

How can i remove the virtuemart path from the url

- Now it is:

- How to be without "/virtuemart/default-layout/"

and rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess ? This is first beginning step.

I have the same issue. I am trying to get rid of virtuemart/default-layout/product_category/product_alias

I have done the following:
SEF [ ] buttons in Global configuration,
and rename htaccess.txt to .htaccess in order to use the VM2 SEO functionality.

What I want is to look like this http://www.damainname.com/produst_category/product_name and to be accessible via the Virtualmart Category module in eSport template.

I used to do this with the use of sh404sef component but it doesn't support virtuamart 2

Can you please let me know if any modification can be made in router.php in order for the default VM2 SEF urls to be changed.
