cart with live info like standard shops offer these days

tough one...

is there a way to get a live status of your cart? the only thing you see is that little cart icon, after clicking there's a popup. This is, in a way, totally different then normal e-store templates these days.

a customer should be able to see his orders at all times...

Please simply display a cart in a different module position. Cart icon is only opening a popup where module positions is located. Live actions depends on used cart module.

not quite, positioning this module in any other position, it simply reads "see cart details". After a click i see a new page with my summary.

i just want some small infobox with the ordered products (or, not as good but still okay: 2 different icons: empty cart / cart symbol with some bright + mark, saying something is in your cart.....)

the current "dead" icon has no usage.
