Hello everybody,
I intalled some time ago, I beliave it was on January, this template on joomla 1.7.4 and VM 1.1.9. in order to create a website for a client. The project was stopped but now It´s alive again and I have a great dilemma. Should I migrate to VM2, and as a plus.. should I upgrade to Joomla 2.5?
I´ts a multilingual site and I already setup VM inserted all the content on the database, but at the time to set up some plugins (bank payment) and some other.. every component developer tells me to migrate to vm2.0!! and I do not know what to do...since VM website does not recommend this version on joomla 2.5 and I change quite much the base template.
I already tried these in a clone site:
Joomla 1.7.4 and upgrading to VM2.. but all the popups went wrong (manufacter, details page...).
Latest Quickstart of GSport at the time, that was 2.8.1 for joomla 2.5.. but I can not choose shipping method on the shopping cart (the deafult are setup and not changed) so I can not continue the shopping.... ( you could see it here) http://www.dragonita.com/betas/pls/index.php
Any Ideas? Someone? I need a stable version to continue bulding my website, since I´m running out of time and need to insert more content.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Here my 2 cents for you, since you have customized much on the site so if you and your client feel it works well just leave it like how it is so you wouldn't need to do much and have time to do other stuff... But in case it doesn't satisfy you enough like there are many bugs found or something.., upgrade is recommended for template and extensions as well as Joomla base.

If you are about to upgrade, make sure that you back up everything before processing.. and if you are not, I will try to check and help you fix the problem above :)

Ok I just found out I have Vm 2.0.0 installed in my Joomla 1.7.4.. I thought it was 1.1.9
But I need help, because something is weird and wrong. I clone the site in a new url and the problem has come back when I press in an product image or in (Angel Muriel, which is the manufacter) It should open a modal window, but it doesn´t. Even worst the same happens by pressing my cart on the top page... nothing opens...
Please SOS Why is this happening when in the real site everything opens correctly?.
I´m gonna put this in a new topic since it´s a different problem and somebody else may also help.
Thsk

Ok I just found out why this is not working. There is a conflict with the acymailing component on the footer. If the subscription to the newsletter is open it breaks the site.
Once I found this, next step.
Any advice on how to upgrade? In order to use the last version of your template and go to the latest VM version... should I upgrade to joomla 2.5?
Any advice on how to plan this upgrade?
Upgrade VM component & reinstall only the template, and then make my css changes?

Thanks

Hi,

The instruction to upgrade Joomla from 1.7 to 2.5 is already here http://docs.joomla.org/Upgrading_from_J ... Joomla_2.5

VM upgrade instruction: http://virtuemart.net/documentation/Use ... grade.html

If you have made customizations to the template, you should move them all to file override.css to avoid loosing them while upgrading.
