Active menu - color change

Is it possible to change the color of sub-menu in order to distinguish the major categories?

The initial distribution of menu is a little difficult to distinguish...

I understand your purpose but after checking the menu I see that it doesn't provide any special class for an active menu so I think it's impossible to change color for it. You'd better ask VirtueMart to get better support for this matter.
