Newbie Nerves

Hi I posted in general discussion same...but here is probably better as my querie is about e-sport..
I have just updated my site to 2.5
It has
- Myfolio template for all the pages
- Myfolio template has been heavily adjusted to suit
- An empty top menu item called emart that I would like to start work on which has nothing connected to it at the moment.
Am I right in assuming if I download e-sport template that I just have to upload it into my templates and choose it for my new page selection for the menu item emart?

Or will I have to do alot more...like what is this overwriting of which you speak? What if I am happy with the Myfolio template for all the categories it is designated to just the way it is. Do I have to overwrite it?

There is no extention or module or plug in on the site for commerce or shopping.
If I upload this template does it give me this automatically? or am I up for having to buy virtue mart and install it for this template to work?

If i understood well, you are using MyFolio template and You did update Joomla! to 2.5 version, right?
If so and if you still want to use MyFolio, you must wait a few more days because this template is not yet fully ready for J!2.5 and only works properly on J!1.7

Yes, if Joomla! update was done correctly from your side, you can use eSports template on this Joomla! version without any problem, along with VirtueMart component (it contains tmpl files that support VM style)

The only way to use this template with e-commerce features is using VirtueMart Component. This is completely free and you can get it here.
You can use others (i.e. RedShop component) but there's no style support that them at this moment.

Thank you for your reply. I will proceed and use e-sport template and also down and upload virtue mart then as I do want to begin building a shop and this looks like an easy way to start.

However I am unclear what you mean about myfolio.

I have been using myfolio template for all my articles and will keep using it as it is heavily modified and I dont see myself updating all those alterations ever again. So I would like to keep myfolio active as it will be and is right now being used and will continue to be used for articles as well as about over 500 articles using it before and seemingly with out any bugs with the recent 2.5 upgrade.

Besides upgrading/installing components/etc, to use second template on a menu item is simple.

Extensions > Template Manager
Choose your second template from the list, in this case it would be gk_esport - Default
When you click on it to edit its settings , on the left hand-side after template description there is "Menus assignment".
So if you have a e-mart menu item and you select it from above settings page. Then whenever user clicks on e-mart menu item joomla will load e-sport template.
