urls friendly

Hello, If I enable url fiendly and mod_rewrite in joomla, when I can go to categories, not work. but in "you are here" yes change.
what's happend?

Please check what happen on default Joomla! template like 'beez' if the same it is your server configuration issue and make sure that mod_rewrite can be enabled, best way for that is contact with your hosting support.

Hello friend.... if you have joomla 1.5 you need to change the htaccess.txt into the .htaccess than you can use friendly url. / for mod rewrite not every provider have fixed it. so this point you can let open.

if you have joomla 2.5. Go to your site via ftp.... you see a file htaccess.txt change it into .htaccess
the next point you have a file at the same follder with webconfig.txt, change it into webconfig, than go in adminbackend and enable the points you need.
if it dont works!
Go again into your space and change webconfig into webconfig.txt -- > go in your joomla backend and dont use the rewrite mode.
Your url'S will be like mine.... and are friendly too....
