Images not showing front page in quick start

I just installed the quick start for my folio. It has all the black boxes on front page but they are linked to k2 articles but no pics show as in the demo.

how do i make pics show as in the demo then when click or hover it can link to article as in the demo?

Try selecting "use first article image" or "K2 image" from News Show Pro module settings > thumbnails.
