Multilanguage menu types - help!

I am using my_folio on J! 2.5.1 - multilanguage site.

As part of the multilanguage set up you have to create a duplicate menus so I have duplicated 'mainmenu', in my case I have called the menu types 'mainmenuen' and 'mainmenucy' but these are not visible.

If I change either menu type back to 'mainmenu' they reappear - but Joomla does not allow both menus to have the same menutype.

Can somebody please tell me how to get around this please?

My issue was that I could not translate the word 'home' using the gavick method, but I have got around this by blanking the title of the home menu option.
