frontpage modules not using menu links

hi there
i have noticed that the template is not allowing (for some reason) certain components to use menu linking...

instead of showing /photo-galleries/.... its showing / component/....

its happening on joomgallery and jreviews modules... all are set in the back end to do the menu assignment - and i have asked their support and they are both saying its template based?

modules are on the frontpage.

(photo galery) and (latest city guide listings)

its a problem becuase clicking through when the URL says "component" rather than the mnu assignment, gets rif of our right hand columns on the clicked through page.

can you advise a fix?
