Site is very slow can someone please help

Hi i wonder if you can help me please as i have been trying to find what the problem is with my site for months now.

The problem is, my site is very slow, in fact on average it is loading at around 12 seconds. the site is http://www.in2town.co.uk

My site is a joomla 1.5, it is on a dedicated server and the home page and main sections load around 12 seconds. but a static page loads around 3 seconds.

The template i am using is a gavick pro template world news

My hosting company which is tmd hosting are saying it is the template that is causing the problem and said there are a number of things wrong with the template that are making it slow, while another person said it is the responding time from the hosting company.

I really need to sort this problem out as it is damaging my site. i did a test before i put any content on the site and found the loading time was 8 seconds which was very puzzling.

On an old template i was using, the load speed was on average around 4 seconds and then i dumped that because i loved the world news template.

I would be grateful if someone can help me solve this problem

I have used the tool as above and i have done what is needed for my site. my site receives on http://gtmetrix.com page speed C 75% and also yslow C 75%

My server are telling me it is the template, but i am not sure. could you please look at my site www.in2town.co.uk at the source code and see if there is anything wrong please.

I've checked your statistics and please look at this bars in every file in most cases the 90% time takes connection to your server so it is not template issue, your site is very light 1,3 mb so it should load immediately, I advise you to use akeeba backup to move your site to some other server (even trial version) to check performance. my hosting company are giving me a headache, they are trying to blame gavic for my problems and not listening to me. can you recommend any good uk hosting company, and is it possible if i list some of the issues that page speed brings up, that you can guide me and how to solve these please, i would very much appreciate this
