[SOLVED] Jomsocial TWN II Questions

Hello,

After a terrible experience with another template company, I decided to try Gavick. Based on the following beautiful advertised screenshots below, I took a leap of faith and decided to pay and join.

I wanted my new site to look JUST like the screenshots. I do not have any programming experience. I am not a developer. I do not know code, css, anything. I was under the impression that this template, when installed, would replicate the promoted photos right out of the box.

There is no demo of this Jomsocial template for me to refer to. Unfortunately, I have spent the majority of my weekend trying to get my site's template to "look" like the article, to no avail. Other than giving up, I'm not sure what to do. As you can see in my photo, it looks nothing like what it is supposed to with regard to the layout, the colors, the headers, the font, the menu, etc. - and that was the closest I could do.

Dumb question 1: Has anyone been able to get their website to look like the Gavick Magazine pictures?

Dumb question 2: Does anyone know what settings the template should be configured to or what I might be doing wrong:(?

I am using the default template, in Jomsocial. It is set to pink.
In the TWN II template section, the layout is set to default. The color is set to red.
All of the fonts are set to Font Squirrel and then BebasNeue font in all of the options, size 6 as the size.
Basic Font section - Arial.
Google Font Section, none.
Mainmenu and then Megamenu is set.
Use phpless - set to no.
CSS compression - set to no.
CSS cache - set to yes.
Use override.css - set to no.

Sorry to ask so many, seemingly stupid questions - I honestly thought this was going to just work and automatically look amazing. Again, I'm not familiar with all of that CSS stuff, so I am should not sure what to do. If anyone has any advice that I could follow, I would be very grateful. Thank you so much for your time and sorry this is so long!

2 - I am nore sure what you done wrong so follow below instructions.

Download Jomsocial Template:
Goto url

Code: Select all

Download Package : gk_twn2_rest_files_J!15.zip (Size: 9 Mb | Hits: 765)
Unzip Downloaded package
Find Folder gk_style in "gk_twn2_rest_files_J!15jomsocial_theme"
Copy folder gk_style into yourjoomla websitecomponentscom_communitytemplates

So in com_communitytemplates you have following folders
blackout
blueface
bubble
default
gk_style

Now goto Joomla Administration > Components > Jomsocial > Templates
You will see gk_style on the list, click on radio button next to it to select it then on top right click on DEFAULT.

Does THIS need to be installed first?: Template gk_twn2_J!15.tgz

And Then Install: Source Files gk_twn2_rest_files_J!15.zip

OR do we SKIP Installing the: Template gk_twn2_J!15.tgz

If you have used quickstart package you dont need to install or use "Template gk_twn2_J!15.tgz".

You only need to use that if you are installing standard joomla from joomla website then you need to use gk_twn2_J!15.tgz which contains template files itself only.

Just a Request for Gavick: I'd LOVE to see the official Demo of this Jomsocial version. That way I can get more ideas and compare it to what I see on my own site.
