World News II MAMP Joomla 2.5.6

Appreciate guidance.

Have loaded MAMP PRO latest version on my Mac Air and then installed Joomla 2.5.6 Quickstart package to start to upgrade one of my sites.

All appeared fine, however working from the Quickstart site, before any changes in GK4 modules the links from the article headings to the articles do not work reliably. They return the (apparently) correct url for the article in the address bar always, but the page returned is the original homepage in most cases - but sometimes the correct article page???

Sure this is probably something obvious, but it has defeated me.
