1. Before any attempts backup your website files/folders and database.
2. Make sure components/modules/plugins you use in your site have joomla 2.5 compatible versions.
3. Make sure to download compatible versions to your computer. ( Templates/ Modules / Components etc.
Steps to follow;
1. Joomla Admin > Extensions > Extensions Manager > Update > On right click on " Find Updates"
2. You will get joomla 2.51 on the list, select the check box next to it then click on "Update".
3. If all goes well your website will be updated to joomla 2.5.1
4. You might get language error depending on version you are using. Simply follow below to fix that error.
5. Joomla Admin > Extensions > Extensions Manager > Database > On right click on "Fix Database".
6. Go to Menus > Menu Manager > On right click on "Rebuild Links"
7. Go to Site > Maintenance > And use "Clear Cache" and "Purge Expired Cache" to clear any system cache.
8. Clear your browsers cache and temporary files.
9. Use Extensions > Extensions Manager to install your templates joomla 2.5 version.
10. If Above fails please extract the file "gk_twn2j2.5!.zip".
11. Rename "your website/templates/gk_twn2/" to "your website/templates/gk_twn2_old/"
12. Copy gk_twn2 from step 10 in to "your website/templates/"
13. Install other modules/components/plugins for joomla2.5. Such as NSP GK4 j2.5, Image Show GK4 j2.5, Tabs GK4 j2.5
