Image captions do not show in articles, but show in K2

Can anyone tell me how I can make the captions work inside normal article images?
I'm using K2 and if I use the image portion of k2, then the caption works fine, but I want to be able to use images in the articles without having to use the K2 image manager. The captions will not show no matter what I do.
