Static or Dynamic content?

Hi,
I´m discovering this template (The World News II) and found a few things that I assume I´m misunderstanding.

I see a lot o nicely design boxes and menus, but when I look at the way they were configured for the sample content, I don´t see how to make them dynamically pick up the content from the news items.

For example, the video box, I see that the mod is a custom html one and that the video code has been pasted. The question is, isn´t there a way for it to pick up videos from news? Or create a video section?

Same with the news summary on the Bottom2 area. Like RADICAL SPORTS, it´s the same, a hand written source of news, which doesn´t make sense if it has to be manually created everytime we want news to appear there.

On other modules, like NSP, I see that it has the ability to pick up news from categories. Isn´t that possible for these apparently manually configurable mods?
