Hi i have now changed my website to joomla 1.5 but still it is showing the problems of joomla 1.7. What i mean by this is, i cannot get any modules to work where they should on the content pages.

For example on this page http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/showbiz-gossip/big-brother-kerry-katona-hits-out-at-mark-croft i am trying to get a latest news module on the right hand side for selected pages but it does not work.

Can anyone let me know how to solve this please

On latest modules settings you have to choose which menu items you want the module to show on....

Giving you an example from below page which is also on your website:
Code: Select all
http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/world/earthquake-workers-search-for-survivors

Modules you see on the right could be published to show under K2 or Items, Categories, User, Tag sub menus as they are a menu.

So question is what are you selecting in module assign options ?

This is the article that I am using as an example http://www.in2town.co.uk/news/showbiz-gossip/twilight-kristen-stewart-teachers-failed

I am selecting latest news

Then in menu assignment/ menu selection i have chosen K2 and showbiz gossip (showbiz gossip is the category that this article is under)

(please note i cannot see module assign options)

Have i done this right or is this wrong?

This is not working for me, please let me know what i should be doing to get the right module showing on my category articles in k2

hi norman, sent you the details as requested.

Just to bring an update on this, what i am finding is, the module is working for the categories that are already set up, but when i have tried to add my own category which is showbiz, the module is not working in that position which is very strange.

Ok check it as of this post as it is working...

As you are using SH404SEF i suggest you to clear your urls as you make changes to menu items and your content / components so you can see your changes or disable it and only start using it once you finish following:

- Design aspects and layout
- Content Layout
- Content Categories
- Articles
- Menu Layout

Other suggestions are do your planing before you touch your site... Decide which component is suitable for your content and use that. Create all of your categories, add sample articles in these categories then work on your homepage layout once satisfactory create all other needed menus then you can enable SEF....

Well because of SH404SEF already created the url for showbiz and then you made changes to menu layout and K2 Category which called showbiz so basically it was pointing to old showbiz url at all times... so module never showed....
Like i ve said in my previous post disable SEF untill you are done with your design / categories etc and at the end when you are happy with everything you basically clear SH404SEF urls and then you enable it and adjust urls link layout and then your work is done...

Just tried another site that i am working on which is joomla 1.7 and tried switching off sh40sef and then using the custom html module to go onto the page and nothing shows in the right hand column.

What did you do to get the other site working

Just cleared the cache like you said and it works so a good point from now on is to keep sh404sef turned off until the site is designed

many thanks
