Disabling Main Component based on Menu item ID

If i have missed this please point me in the right direction, With all new template override features on these new templates i am wondering if we can also have an override to disable component based on menu item id.

Example. imaging big portal sites and displaying modules only page on lets call it sub frontpage or frontpage of that main category. Eg, You click on PC Games , and in all modules you get PC Games related modules and clicking on any other item displays component as usual.

I know there are workarounds , e.g installing second template and removing component code etc. But it might be easier if we can have an override option.

Any ideas....

Please I would also like to know if it is possible to disable component component based on Menu Id... I'd like to show only modules just like on front page...
