What do these settings do?

These settings are present in the template backend for fb vimeo and twitter on hover it says "enable social icons at top of page" I have tried enabling them and disabling them - what to they do? and where is the "top" of the page in the template.... I can't see it

These options display social bookmark links/icons in your articles. If you look at a demo page you will notice them top left below the article details Example here.

Or they could also be related to the social and media links displayed in the lower right of this template.
