Menus and links don't work after upgrading Joomla to 2.5.1

HELP!

I am using appSite for Joomla 2.5 and I just upgraded Joomla from 2.5 to 2.5.1 and none of my menus or hyperlinks are working!

I've read elsewhere in this forum that I should upgrade the template and I was looking to see if the appSite template has been upgraded for Joomla 2.5.1.

Please advise as to how I can fix this?

Thanks,
railer

Please download joomla 2.5 compatible template version. See below link , download & install gk_appsite_J!25.zip.

Thanks Norman,

When I made this post, I thought I already had installed the 2.5 version of appSite, but now I think it was the 1.7 version.

Anyway, if I install the 2.5 version, will it overwrite the 1.7 version, or install separately?

I made a lot of customizations to the 1.7 version.

Please advise,

Btw, do you know of specific files that are different between the 1.7 and 2.5 versions of the template? If I could just replace those files, it might help simplify the process for me.

Thanks,

I noticed the changes.txt file in the gk_appsite_J!25 folder, which lists the files below. If I just upload those files to the existing 1.7 appSite template, will the template be upgraded to be compatible with Joomla 2.5.1?

Thanks for your help,
railer

I believe changes.txt belongs to previous versions, to make sure i have used an appsite 1.7 installation, updated it to joomla 2.51 through extensions > update.

Same issue as you had menus do not work. Following changes.txt did not solve this.
Copying contents of appsitej25!.zip into templates folder and overwriting previous files/folders does solve the issue and template is working fine.
Please also update GK4 modules to j2.5 compatible versions.

Thanks for your help Norman,

It looks like it had to do with the scripts in the js folder, specifically the mobile scripts — well, it didn't work until I finally over wrote the mobile scripts.

The menus work properly now.

One new thing has come up: All content articles are displaying twice on their pages. Don't know what is causing that, but if you have any ideas, please let me know.

Best,

Try to reinstall gk_cache plugin again. Which should be available in rest_files package. There are few similar topics regarding the same issue double content in website so i ll look in to them and see if i can find a working fix.

Hi Norman,

Okay, I just updated Joomla from 2.5.1 to 2.5.2 and the menu problems are back again.
Updating the scripts in the appSite folder doesn't solve the problem.

Please let me know what to do this time.

I'll keep checking things and will post any thing I find out here.

Thanks,
railer

Okay, I obtained the plg_gkcache.php and plg_gkcache.xml files from the appSite Quickstart for J! 2.5 plugins/system/plg_gkcache directory.

I over wrote the same files in the live site, and the menus work again.

What is it that is causing this recurring issue? Is the Joomla update overwriting appSite files, or am I just refreshing the cache?

Please advise.

Thanks,

I believe you are just refreshing your cache. That is why it is always a good idea to disable any compression and caching when developing your website. That way you can clearly see if there are any errors.
