User Manager Registration not working

Hi I'm using AppSite with Joomla 1.7.4.

I have a menu item set up to allow visitors to join using the User Manager - Registration form.

When the user submits the form, it doesn't display any message and just clears the form. No confirmation message is sent to the user either.

I checked the User Manager Options settings and they are set correctly — to allow new user registrations and set to Self to require clicking the confirmation link in the email.

When I use the Register link at the top right of the AppSite template, the registration process works properly as normal.

What could be the problem with the User Manager Registration process? How to a troubleshoot it, and fix it? Is there a way to access the Register link form through the menu? I tried the Register link url manually, but it just goes to the User manager form version.

Please advise,

You may be having problem with reCaptcha plugin, please check its configurations, when I tried to register it always said "Wrong reCaptcha" though I input correctly. Also I couldn't login your backend with provided credentials.

Hi Don,

Sorry about the credentials. The new ACL was confusing. It lists Administrator in the Public section, so I set you to Publisher, just above Super Users, but that didn't work. You are now an Administrator and I logged in successfully.

I don't get the reCaptcha error you describe. In fact, in the User Manager Registration form, a reCaptcha form doesn't even display at all for me (Firefox 9.0.1, Mac OSX 10.6.8).

As a side note, when I use the Register link in the upper right corner of the AppSite template, I DO see a reCaptcha form and when submitting the form, everything works properly.

Why is it that the User Manager Registration form does NOT work (and not display a reCapthcha field)?

Thanks for your help.

FYI, I just tried changing the registration.xml file back to the original setting and it still didn't work. (I changed it back to say "All fields required." as in my first post to this thread.)

I can be pretty sure that you are having problem with configurations of reCaptcha plugin, please check if you have enabled it, if yes, you need to input correct keys. http://easycaptures.com/fs/uploaded/432/8714946907.jpg

Hi Don,

Yes, if you are referring to System - GKreCapthca, it is enabled and as I mentioned below, it works when using the "Register" link in the upper right corner of the appSite template.

Have you been able to log in and take a look at the site directly? I would appreciate it. I'm getting contact emails from visitors who cannot register, so I'd like to get this resolved asap.

You can PM if you need more information. I'll PM you my email and other info.

Thanks,

Ok I see, I have just registered successfully with the popup window. I will try to check further with the template override file. Can you please PM backend and FTP access?

Hi Don,

I ended up installing RS Memberships and setting it up. It works. I've deleted the previous form links. Although, I still have the register link from the template. How can I modify that "Register" link to point it to my RS Memberships page?

Don't know why the regular Users Manager Registration wouldn't work. In fact, I couldn't even figure out where to enter the reCaptcha for it, if it is a separate entry. Was the form part of the Gavick template, or the default Joomla 1.7.4 form?

It would've been good to find out why it wasn't working, but must fix and move on.

Best,

In order to check where the issue comes from, template nor Users component, you can try this:

1. Download a fresh Joomla package and update Users component to override current one in your server, it may be corrupted somehow. Then if it works, problem comes from component.

2. Remove override template folder of Users component from the template, it is \templates\gk_appsite\html\com_users\. Then if it works, problem comes from template.

BTW, please specify the Register link you want to change.
