Upgrade from gk_coffe 1.0.1 (v1.5) to gk_coffe 2.9.1 (v2.5)

I need to upgrade an old version of the gk coffe template, current version 1.0.1 running on joomla 1.5 (1.5.26) to the latest version 2.9.1 running on joomla 2.5.

I have been looking into the old posts but couldn't find any help in there, could anyone please tell me which steps do i need to follow in order to get it done without losing any content from the production website?

I've made a backup of the site + db using akeeba, but not sure how to proceed.

You need to install new version of template with Joomla! 2.5.8 and then migrate your content. Please look at part "How to Manually Migrate Joomla" here >> http://docs.joomla.org/Migrating_from_Joomla_1.5_to_Joomla_2.5 then just re-create all your modules and set them in new template positions. There is no easy way to upgrade template for J!1.5 to J!2.5 because this are totally different products created with different frameworks.
