Template: Coffe
Joomla Version: 1.5.12
Operating System: Mac o s x

In Joomla 1.5 > install/uninstall > Browse > then i selected > com_jce_2017 2 (JCE editor zip file)
then clicked > Upload file & Install after a few seconds this message is displayed

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /homepages/40/d351903140/htdocs/QUICKSTART_JAN2008/administrator/components/com_jce/classes/text.php on line 21

However When i click components it looks like JCE was installed but then when i click JCE administrations this message displays again

Also when in global configuration > Default WYSIWYG Editor: the only options are for TinyMCE 2.0 or No editor

There is also a load of writing displayed under every page on my joomla administration back-end e.g site, menus, content.

Displayed writing has titles that say: Profile Information, Memory Usage, 11 queries logged, Language Files Loaded

What is going on please help and thanks for your time in advance :(

Firstly this is not template related as this was a common problem when v2 came out and it was related to few stuff so follow below checklist and see if it works for you.

1- JCE v2 requires PHP v5.2+ so if your PHP version is less then that try to upgrade it or switch hosts.
2- If you had previous JCE such as 1.5 version you have to uninstall all files including language files. You cannot use v2 on top of 1.5 as it is a complete different version. So anything related to version 1.5 has to be deleted.

3- You can try to use Joomla's directory installation method which has helped in few cases.

" Install Directory. As an alternative to installing from an archive file, you can follow the steps below:

Create a temporary directory on your local hard drive and unpack the Extension's archive file in this temporary directory.

Using FTP, upload the contents of this directory (including files and subdirectories) to a temporary directory on your server.

In the Install Directory field specify the directory where you have uploaded the files and subdirectories of the package.

Click on the Install button and Joomla! will install the contents of the given directory."

See you around...
