Missing Configuration file for Coffe

I have been trying to upload the quick start and it seems Joomla 1.7 is missing the configuration files. I looked in the folder I downloaded from your site and they are not there. When I've tried to do the installation via ftp, I get an error that says my site can't be viewed because I'm missing the config file. Is there some place I could get that file?

Hi newsiteb,

Please visit the link below & read each section, it explains in detail how the Gavick QuickStart files work.

http://www.gavick.com/supportdesk/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/28/0/how-to-install-quickstart-package

Also, when you un-pack the QuickStart file on your desktop before uploading all the contents via FTP to your domain hosting server, you will not see a ' configuration.php ' file within the top level unpacked files. I've attached an example blank ' configuration.php ' image file within this post as an example of the type of file that is created after you have uploaded all the un-packed QuickStart files & followed the installation process step by step at the above link.

I hope this helps !

Thanks,

Niall Kelly

Before I had posted my question, I had looked at the extracted files to see if the config file was there and is wasn't. I just downloaded Coffee 1.7 again and un-packed it, and I don't see it there either. I've attached a screen shot.

Hi newsiteb,

You are getting confused. The ' configuration.php ' file will NOT be within the un-packed QuickStart file on your desktop.

Re-upload all the files to your domain / hosting server account, after all the files have been uploaded 100%, open a browser window, Firefox etc, enter the URL of your domain into the address bar, when the site opens you will be see the installation section, follow the steps already outlined at the link below. The ' configuration.php ' file will be created by your web server online & placed into the ' www ' directory of your domain / hosting account.

I did that 3 times. I've used your packages many times before and have never had this problem. I follow your instructions word for word. When I get to the last page of the installation, it says Joomla has been successfully installed and I need to remove the installion file. I click on the bottom to do that. I also check in the root folder to make sure it's not there. But when I go to the site, I get an error saying I am missing the config file. I have called my hosting company - iPage and asked them to reset the root directory to be able to write to it and they have, twice. After the 3rd time, I gave up.

It would be different if I had never used your packages before, but I have. The reason why I like the packages is because it's quicker to modify the demo files then to upload everything separately. Because I have used you 1.5 packages before successfully; I've done this upload 3 times now, following your install instruction to the letter; and the last page indicates that I did install Joomla success; plus I've made sure the hosting company has set the root file to be written; I am now to the conclusion that the problem with the file.

I ended up using Wordpress. Even though i really like Joomla better, my client wanted me to use Wordpress. I wanted to use the package so i could show them quickly how the site could look. Now it's too late.
