Hi, I wanted to instead of having the 'Login' option at the top righ of the template, list my social bookmarks there.

Can somebody please show me how to do this?
thanks

as far as i know the login is a position...

if not you will need to make your own position... there is a few guides in the forum on how to make your own positions..

this is a customization and we do not support that.

It's probably 'userarea' you can view template positions by appending ?tp=1 to the end of the URI http://site.dom/index.php/?tp=1 in J1.6 this behaviour can be switched off. Web search 'joomla 1.6 module positions switch' or similar or in the admin area nav to Administrator > Template Manager > Options > Templates Tab > Preview Module Positions [On/Off].

You can also visit the gavick demo for your template and view a graphical layout of the available positions. Example

thanks. i know about the module positions but there is no mention of the log in area i am talking about.

thanks again

i tried to use the login position (Not visible in the module positions page for the template) but it simplt creates a drop down option with the content in it. I just wanted to have 3 buttons that link directly to twitter, facebook etc accounts.

Is there a way to disable the drop down and just show buttons?

A few months ago Seichinha wrote up a guide explaining how to create a new module position.
You can read it here Logo and Extra Right Module Guide. You can use the changes on another templates it doesn't apply just to the Penguin Mail template. You may need to adjust some of the code to suit your template or get the positioning and style as you would like. Following the guide will help you get a feel for how the templates hang together. :)

Backup your template directory and just get stuck in - worst case you may need to restore your original files. ;)
